We wanted to create an opportunity to recognize some folks doing great things, both around the game of hockey and beyond.
Stick-Tap Tuesday was born!
Stick-Tap Tuesday will be a recurring feature, where we recognize some good stuff. In this inaugural edition, we’ll look at some other resources we read on a regular basis. The permanent home will be on our resources page.
Here we go! Jump the boards and check these folks out.
Great resource celebrating the diversity of our great sport. We have been regular readers for more than a year. Sometimes our sport gets a bad rap for not being inclusive. The Color of Hockey helps to put that myth to bed, while recognizing the accomplishments of our diversified game.

Coach Rick Traugott (a.k.a. The Hockey Coach 14)
Coach Traugott publishes a weekly newsletter, which we have read for some time now. We think he is best suited for coaches, however, players and parents can certainly gain valuable takeaways from his posts. He has also published both e-books and hard copy, including Torpedo Hockey.
This is a great resource about personal finance, with a rock-n-roll feel. He talks about savings, budgeting, getting out of debt, and growing your net worth. There are plenty of links to others sites too. It is a great resource–very much worth a look. This is one money site that will NOT put you to sleep!
This is a Hockey Site/Blog for players. Ben Levesque talks about many of the intangibles of our great game. They are little things that can make a big difference during a game. Coaches and parents can get a good take-away from his site, as well. We encourage everyone to take his Hockey IQ test. Let us know how you do!
We love this site! While it is geared toward the Women’s game, there is plenty there for everyone. Don’t limit yourselves to thinking there are two types of hockey–men’s and women’s. That is foolish. There is just one type of hockey–HOCKEY–it just happens to be played at the highest level by both men and women.
Check this folks out, and let us know what you think. Do you have a favorite resource? Let us know, so we can share it with the Dawg Pound.
By now, we’re confident you have heard of the tragedy which struck the hockey community over the weekend. 15 members of the Humboldt Broncos were killed in a horrific traffic accident.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the team, their families, and the community.
We are asking all our readers to join the support of the Broncos, and leave a hockey stick on your front porch. You never know when the boys will need one. #HumboldtStrong
